This project is a concept for branding and packaging arak, a Levantine alcoholic spirit in the anis drinks family, for a global market.
Arak is traditionally drank in small glasses, mixed with two parts water. It turns a milky white color when mixed.
In Lebanon, arak is traditionally named after the distiller’s village. Since the reason I was in Lebanon was my dad’s job in the UN headquarters in Naqoura, South Lebanon, I chose that place as my “home town.” The pattern is inspired by Arabic calligraphy and Mesopotamian jewelry.
